I kept going back and forth about publishing this. I still can’t decide if posting it before I actually submit my application is a jinx, but I’m too excited about how these came out to hold off!
The assignment was to develop a campaign for Tupperware targeting 21-30-year-old women (I almost DIED when I realized this is my demographic. Are people actually trying to sell me tupperware??).
I sat down with Liz, a fellow in-the-target-demographic-er, to talk about possible direction for the campaign. She brought up the excellent point that our demographic responds to emotional pulls. In addition to being young and hip, the 21-30-year-old woman values friendship, relationships and social activities as a big part of her life (and a big part of her credit card bill). We discussed attempting to tie the two together with a sentiment like “leftovers are reminders of your fun memories! keep them fresh. remember the great times when you eat them again, etc.” We left it at that.
So, I start sketching, and I’m like howww am I going to do this? My photoshop skills are not savvy enough to photoshop a party inside a tupperware container. And I don’t have a picture of a party, or a tupperware container. think, think, think, think. BUT MY CRAFTY AWESOME SKILLS ARE SAVVY ENOUGH TO MAKE SOMETHING OUT OF…SOMETHING. So I printed up photos & hand-crafted “leftovers” to, quite literally, illustrate the tagline “today’s leftovers, last night’s memories”
Overall, the ads are meant to evoke the viewer’s memories of nights out and potlucks and dinners with friends. The colorful, minimalist approach, is targeted toward young women who have grown out of their flowery-pink-CurlzMT stage and entered the real world. Everyone has leftover food they need to store. The ad is intended to associate the Tupperware Brand with good memories while showing off a very small portion of Tupperware’s products—the Cake Taker and the traditional Tupperware container—placed at the bottom with the Tupperware logo.
